No, configuring a custom report in Matomo is designed to be straightforward and accessible to everybody. We have made significant efforts to ensure a user-friendly experience. The first time you create a custom report it may take you a minute, after a while you will be able to create reports in just seconds.

Where can I find the Custom Reports feature?

  1. Navigate to the Custom Reports option located in the left menu or
  2. Go to Administration matomo admin gear icon > Custom Reports.
  3. Select Manage Reports to create new and edit existing custom reports.

Creating and editing a Custom Report

  1. To create a new report, click Create new report in the bottom left.
  2. To edit a report, click on the edit icon next to the name of a report.
  3. When you create a new report, define a name and optionally a description.
  4. Depending on further configuration, the report name is displayed in the reporting menu. The description will be shown when you click on the help icon next to the report title. For example, you could mention the purpose of this report.

  5. Next you need to define which content you want to see in the report. For this you first select the visualization for this report (for example a table view or an evolution chart).

Then the dimensions and metrics you want to see for this report.

The ‘Preview‘ button will allow you to visualise the appearance of the custom report, based on today’s tracked data.

If you are happy with the result of your preview, you can select Create New Report to save the report.
