How to make new Matomo segments available in Looker Studio
When using Matomo’s Looker Studio connector, you may notice newly-created segments not appearing in Looker Studio when building or updating reports.
Looker Studio does not automatically refresh the list of custom segments from your Matomo instance, so new segments in Matomo will not immediately show up in Looker Studio’s reports.
The steps below show how to ensure a new Matomo segment is available for use in Looker Studio.

Create the segment in Matomo and verify it works within Matomo reports, e.g, Returning visitors.

Go to Looker Studio and click on Data sources.

Open the Matomo data source and click Edit connection.

To manually refresh the list of available segments, click Reconnect.

Open your report in Looker Studio and confirm the new segment appears in the segment list, e.g., Returning visitors.

Apply the segment and verify that your report returns the correct data.
This process ensures that all new or modified segments are available in your Looker Studio reports.
