How do I configure system-wide overage alert notifications?
Superusers can adjust the system-wide overage alert logic to control how Matomo projects quota usage and triggers notifications.
- Login as a Superuser and navigate to Matomo settings (Administration)
> System > General Settings > Billing > Quota Usage Notifications (System-wide)
- Choose one of the following options:
- Use default calculation period for overage projections (recommended): Calculates quota usage projections based on recent usage trends; 7 days for monthly plans and 14 days for yearly plans. This option reacts more quickly to changes in traffic, helping identify potential quota overages earlier.
- Use entire billing period for overage projections: Calculates quota usage projections based on the full billing period. This provides a more stable prediction for websites that expect short-term traffic spikes.
The selection will apply to all users in the instance.
How do I manage user overage alert notification settings?
Users can manage their overage alert preferences in Personal settings.
-
Navigate to Matomo settings (Administration)
> Personal > Settings > Quota Usage Notifications (User)
-
From here, you can enable or disable the following options:
- Send me an email when hits quota is nearly exceeded
- Send me an email when there is hits overage projected
- Send me email reminders for overage and projected overage
These notifications help you stay informed about your data usage, so you can take action before exceeding your quota. If you’re unsure which notifications to enable, we recommend activating all alerts, which you can adjust later as needed.
